The youth ministry year is coming to an end and most small group leaders are just trying to get through the last few weeks. I know it seems like it’s all winding down, but there is still a great opportunity to impact adult volunteers; it’s called an evaluation. Your small group leaders have just put in a whole year of teaching and motivating students to grow in their faith, how about letting them know what they did well and how they could improve next year. Not to mention a big thanks. Here are a couple of evaluation ideas:
Target 3 – three aspects of the ministry you did well in, and three aspects to improve on. Then help them create 3 action steps to help them improve in the fall.
• Evaluate on goals, mission statement, or core values of the ministry.
• Evaluate on skills of ministry, i.e. teaching, mentoring, relationship building and challenging.
This is a sample evaluation I have used in the past.
My name is Doug Franklin and I serve youth workers through a ministry called LeaderTreks. I love youth ministry and the people who serve in it. I work with an incredible team creating tools and resources enabling youth workers to develop students into leaders. I want to influence youth workers to challenge students and prepare them for leadership in the kingdom of God.

Hey Doug,
Love target three. I have a meeting with our Small Group Directors today. I am going to use it in our meeting. Thanks for the tip and thanks for the tool.
