Often adult small group leaders think silence after they ask a question means students don’t care, are not listening and are apathetic. This may not be true, they may just be thinking…I did say “may.” I have been there, I have seen the blank looks on students’ faces, but I have also seen what happens when they have time to think and sometimes they come up with incredible insights. Lets give students some more time and be comfortable with silence – enjoy it, you could use the quiet time.
