We usually think about what we can do for students who struggle to know God, but what can we offer to students who have a hunger and thirst for more of God. Here are a couple of ideas for challenging students who want more of God.
1. Ask them to identify the neediest group of people in your church. This could be a hard assignment depending on your church. This will also require them to define “needy” (spiritual or material).
2. Ask them to determine this people group’s greatest need. You can phrase it like this, “at the end of the day what do these people need most?”
3. Challenge the students to meet the need. You can determine if you will help them with resources or if they need to find resources on their own. The key is the students have to meet the need. This should be challenging, interesting, and cause them to stretch their faith muscles.
My name is Doug Franklin and I serve youth workers through a ministry called LeaderTreks. I love youth ministry and the people who serve in it. I work with an incredible team creating tools and resources enabling youth workers to develop students into leaders. I want to influence youth workers to challenge students and prepare them for leadership in the kingdom of God.

I like the thought here Doug, as it seems sometimes this segment of student ministry gets overshadowed by those that still need Jesus. Obviously both groups need attention. My only change to your list would be to replace (maybe add to is the better way to say it), “people in your church” to “people in your community.” It’s always good to keep our youth looking outward.
