Say you had 5 strong jr. and sr. high student leaders in your ministry. How would your ministry be different? Most of the time when I ask youth workers this questions they say, “it would make a huge difference.” So when I ask what are they doing about developing a few students as leaders, they usually say, “nothing.”

Student leaders can make a big difference in our ministry but they don’t just show up one day. It takes a process to develop them. Often when a high school or church has me in to do training they think, “one hour with the guy from LeaderTreks and we will have leaders everywhere.” It’s just not true. Student leaders take years to develop and have to be given lots of room to fail. Growing student leaders can’t just be one aspect of your ministry; it must permeate all of your ministry.

I do believe that 5 student leaders in a youth group can make a world of difference but it will take a comprehensive leadership development program to get there. This is why at LeaderTreks we talk about partnering with youth workers because without a partner most youth workers won’t have the time or resources to stick with the process. Call us because we would love to help you.
